Arnhem, we have a lift off
The official website for the Ploneconf 2012, www.ploneconf.org has been launched and made public on plone.org and Twitter. Now we are definitely in business. Over the last few months, we have put a lot of effort in the design, logo and content. For your information, we hereby explain some of the choices we made during the proces.
Plone conference 2012 logo released
The logo for the Plone conference 2012 which will be held in Arnhem in The Netherlands, is released. Rebel X, one of the Dutch Plone companies volunteered to do the design and created a great logo. As of today, the organization in Arnhem will start working on t-shirts, beer glasses and other relevant items. The logo will (obviously) also appear on the new conference website that is almost ready for launch.

As from now, Four Digits has started the initial preparations on the upcomming Ploneconf in october. We have the venue and we have formed a team to make it happen. If you have suggestions, ideas or questions, don't hesitate to contact us.
Ladies and gentleman, we 've got it
The Plone conference 2012 will take place in Arnhem, the Netherlands. The foundation members have had their advisory vote and the majority favored Arnhem. Last weekend, the Board made the final decision, so now we can start the preparations. Needless to say we are very happy to be elected.
Fingers crossed during vote
This week, the community decides wether the Plone Conf 2012 will be held in Arnhem or Paris. Two companies turned in a prososal, so we have a 50/50 chance of winning the vote. If all goes well, the decision will be made public on monday the 23th of january.
'I would organise it again if needed'
Next month, a Dutch magazine is goint to run a story on the Plone conference 2011 that was held in San Francisco last november. For that, the editor contacted one of the organisers: Elizabeth Leddy. Together with Tom Kapanka (AKA Spanky) and a team of bunnies, she made sure the conference was a succes. We asked all kind of questions regarding preparations and things to take into consideration. In all: what are the parameters for a succesful event? Since only Dutch Ploners will be able to read the story, we decided to copy the part with Leddy and turn it into a blog. For all you ' would be' organisers out there: Read and learn.
Dutch Magazine runs story on Plone Conf
A well known Dutch magazine is going to print a story on the Plone conference that took place in november. At the moment we are busy writing the article with the help of Elizabeth Leddy. She was one of the two main organizers in San Francisco.
Presentation at Fair Trade Arnhem
During an event of Fair Trade Arnhem, Four Digits was invided to do a presentation on our paperless office. All the documents we use are digitally stored on a server, so there is almost no need for paper, printers, faxes and toners.
Sprint in Nijmegen
Today, a member of the Four Digits crew is going to run 15 kilometers during the Zevenheuvelenloop te Nijmegen. This year, we thought it would be a good idea to do some Plone marketing as well.
More culture in our region
Theatre, culture and music are important for a society. That is why Four Digits is sponsor of the Dutch orchestra Het Gelders Orkest. This ensemble, based in Arnhem, performes classical music for everybody; young, old, modern and traditional
Plone site Cool Widget wins award
SIDN, the Dutch organisation that distributes .nl domains, has awarded www.coolwidget.nl in the category 'education in a digital environment' during their annual conference. According to the jury, this Plone site is an excellent tool for highschool students to determine the next step in their education.

Yesterday, Calvin Hendryx-Parker gave a very interesting talk about selling Plone. How do you talk to potential customers? By listening rather than talking.
Plone.com; up and running in four months
Recently, the Plone community bought plone.com. Now we have to turn it into a powerful yet simple platform that promotes Plone to end-users. According to Mark Corum, we need to launch it within four months from today.

PloneConf: why are we here?
It is day 3 of the conference here in SF, but there is still one blog to be published about yesterday. It is the 'why are we here' blog. Calvin Hendryx-Parker and Alexander Limi discussed it during their presentation about the state of Plone. "We are here because of the community."
New Plone Foundation Board elected
At the end of day 2 of the PloneConf 2011 in San Francisco, the new board of Directors has been elected.
Keynote: building bridges by P.J Onori
Day 2 of the PloneConf 2011 started with some lighting talks and after that, P.J. Onori did his keynote speech at the Century 9 movie theater. He is the lead product designer at Seabright, a product design and development company. He worked with both developers and designers and his message to the community was that it is all about the user experience. "Collaboration is fun."
It's all about mark(eting)
Here at the conference, the most important presentation for a marketing manager was the one Mark Corum did. He has been around in the community for years and has a lot of experience in marketing. He is not only involved in Plone, he worked for political organisations as well. His message? Be honest and let people know what you are doing.
Goodies in the bag
Here at the conference, the most important talks for a marketing and PR guy are after lunch. In the meanwhile, I will show some of the goodies they gave us at registration. I hope we can bring them home safely...
PloneConf 2011 from a non technical Point of View
After two days of sightseeing, the conference has begun at the San Francisco State University Downtown Campus. Since i am not a programmer, i will post a few blogs from a non technical point of view about this event. For me, its all about meeting people and learn how to promote Plone.
